Roan is a gene that you don't see very often. Roan needs white to show through and only develops on the white areas in their coat. Many roan dogs are born without showing the roan gene. Its a progressive pattern that develops over time creating a blended/mottled look! Thats why they look so different when they mature especially if they are parti!
